The Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences addresses humanity’s grand challenges related to agriculture through programs of research, education, and outreach ranging from investigations of the inner workings of plants to their interactions with landscapes and climate.
The Department of Geoscience's mission is to research and disseminate information on the structure, chemistry, physics, and evolution of Earth; life on Earth and in the solar system; and the interaction between physical, chemical, and biological processes shaping the Earth. We aim to be at the forefront of research, to reach a broad audience, and to provide knowledge useful to society. We believe research and the creation of new knowledge are essential to our programs, to the Wisconsin Idea, and to the extension of the Wisconsin Idea to the world.
